Getting Started
Account Setup
Set up your account, profile, and initial preferences.
Now that you understand what Hardroad can do for you, let's get your account set up properly. A few minutes of configuration now will save you time and frustration later.
Creating your account
If you haven't already, head to hardroad.app and click Start Today to create your account. You can sign up using:
- Email and password
- Google account
- Apple ID
Setting up your profile
Once you're logged in, the first thing you'll want to do is complete your profile:
- Click on your avatar in the top-right corner
- Select Settings from the dropdown
- Navigate to the Profile tab
Here you can:
- Add your name and profile photo
- Set your preferred display name
- Configure your time zone (important for scheduling!)
- Choose your preferred date and time format
Choosing your default workspace
Hardroad organizes your work into workspaces. When you first sign up, you'll have a personal workspace created automatically.
If you plan to use Hardroad with a team or family, you can create additional workspaces later. For now, your personal workspace is a great place to start.
Configuring work hours
Setting your work hours helps Hardroad schedule tasks and events at appropriate times:
- Go to Settings → Preferences
- Find the Work Hours section
- Set your typical start and end times
- Mark your working days
This information is used to:
- Default new events to within your work hours
- Calculate available time for scheduling
- Provide more relevant daily planning suggestions
Notification preferences
Decide how and when you want Hardroad to notify you:
Email notifications
- Daily digest summaries
- Weekly review reminders
- Upcoming deadline alerts
Push notifications
- Task reminders
- Habit prompts
- Calendar event alerts
We recommend starting with fewer notifications and adding more as you identify what's helpful for your workflow.
Connecting integrations (optional)
Hardroad integrates with many tools you might already use. Popular integrations include:
- Google Calendar - Sync events bidirectionally
- Outlook - Connect your Microsoft calendar
- Slack - Create tasks from messages
You can set up integrations now or come back to this later. We have a dedicated course module on calendar integration if you want to dive deeper.
Quick wins for your first day
Before moving to the next lesson, try these quick wins:
- Add one goal - What's something you want to achieve this month?
- Create one habit - What small behavior do you want to build?
- Plan tomorrow - Add 3-5 tasks for your next day
Don't worry about getting everything perfect. The goal is to start using Hardroad and refine your approach over time.
Next steps
In the next lesson, we'll give you a tour of the Hardroad interface so you always know where to find what you need.
